We conducted a laboratory test comparison for AC vs EC motors to determine energy saving for a major project in South Africa.
They gave us the room temperature requirement and a 2.8Kw thermal load.
AC FCUs have 3 possibilities for cooling capacity (3 speeds) to meet the room thermal load changes. With EC motors, in addition in auto mode, the FCU air flow is linear to the room temperature change rate.
In order to get an accurate AC and EC efficiency comparison, we arranged a test of AC and EC motors using the same unit, which allowed us to achieve accurate data to make the necessary calculations. We used Eurovent certified performance models PDWL-15 AC and PDWL-15 EC units to do the testing.
